About

My name is Matt and I live in the heart of Suffolk, which I suppose is considered a fairly rural area by some. I grew up in an urban area at the edge of town, where I enjoyed exploring the surrounding fields and sporadic woodlands. I was always drawn to the outdoors.

At some point during my younger years I fell into a severe depression, I lost focus at school and frequently neglected to attend altogether. This state of mind persisted for many years and perhaps this blog is a farewell to the negativity that pervaded my life for so long.

I used to write a lot of poetry to vent my feelings, some are quite good while others are raw and unforgiving. But reading them back to myself has helped to piece together my journey.

It was interesting to me that my poems became more optimistic as I aged and served as a sort of cryptic diary, charting all the highs and lows of my experiences.

Was writing therapeutic? Cathartic even? All I can say for sure is that poetry was the most important thing to me.  I would seek out artists, writers and musicians for like-minded discussions and regular revelries.

The purpose of this blog is to share some of my favourite poems and offer observations, which I hope will be objective and inoffensive. I have a keen interest in photography and photo editing so expect to see some colour here too. I invite you to share your poetry, photographs and opinions in the comments.

Thanks for reading.

    • Thank-you very much for your kind comments. I hope I’m not too late, yes I’m interested, what do I need to do next? I haven’t had any recent updates due to work and college.
